Our Studios

Each of our studios has a unique personality and focus created by and tailored to the development of the learners within. These stages, and our use of mixed ages, correlate heavily with Maria Montessori’s cognitive planes of development allowing each of our studios to have very unique goals.

Creator’s House currently offers two studios. Our Spark Studio serves learners ages 5-7 and our Explorer Studio serves learners ages 7-12. We will continue to grow with our learners through high school. For example, for the 2024 – 2025 school year, our Explorer Studio will grow to include 13 year olds. We will eventually open a Makers Studio and a Launchpad to support our older learners.

Learning Design

Studio design, tools used, schedules for the younger Spark Studio vs. the older learners in the Explorer Studio is very different. Select the corresponding tab below for more details.

Spark Studio

Spark Studio focuses on whole child development – cognitive, physical, emotional, and social – with an emphasis on exploring and discovering natural interests. In the morning we focus on core skills which are done in a Montessori environment and, in the afternoon, we incorporate loose parts play and Quest lite programs. Creators in Spark Studio are introduced to the goal setting and independent learning skills needed to thrive in future studios. Our Core Processes

Hero's Journey

Everybody is born to change the world, however that journey, the Hero’s Journey is difficult. We work with our creators to prepare them for the path that lay ahead as they find their calling and change the world.

Studio Contracts

The creators and parents develop contracts, and once acceptable, everybody signs them. This essentially becomes the constitution that everyone is held to. When a contract is broken, processes are developed to correct the situation.

SMART Goals

Creators are introduced to the concept of Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-Bound goals. This will prepare them for future success in the older studios and will guide them on their hero’s journey.

Studio Leadership & Maintenance

Each day the creators are given individual and team oriented leadership and maintenance tasks within the studio. Doing this builds leadership skills and transfers ownership of the studio to the creators. Producing a sense of community and pride in their studio.

Explorer Studio

Our Explorer Studio engages heroes in Projects with Purpose and Mastery based core skills – computer science, reading, writing, and math – using the top proven and challenging tech-based learning tools. Quests are introduced as a signature experience in the learning design of our Explorer Studio. Each Quest runs 5-7 weeks and focuses on real-world hands-on projects, end with a learner-driven exhibition to our families and the broader community. Civilization Simulations are also introduced in the Explorer Studio focusing on complex interdisciplinary problems, ethical dilemmas, and simulations. Quests and Civilization Simulations will require deep critical thinking, heavy collaboration, and unique creative solutions. Our Plan

Spark Studio

Grow a unique, curious and independent spirit.

Our Spark Studio is an authentic Montessori environment of whole child development: cognitive, physical, emotional and social. Learners in our Spark Studio will learn and discover through play and exploring natural interests. Our Spark Studio also builds foundations of reading, writing, socratic discussions, and independent learning skills that prepare young people to soar in our Explorer Studio.

Explorer Studio

Develop a deep love of learning and kindness in relationships with others.

Our Explorer Studio builds a foundation of learning and discovery through personalized Core Skills, exploratory Quest projects, and play. Core Skills – reading, writing, math – are self-paced and mastery-based using adaptive technology. Learners explore the arts, sciences, history and natural world through hands-on projects each afternoon.

Simulations require teamwork, critical thinking and creativity. Meanwhile, plenty of free time and competitive games bind the community together and build problem solving and collaboration skills. Basic reading skills are a requirement for joining this studio.

Makers Studio

Work truly hard, develop practical skills and adventure into the world.
